The first rocket in India was launched from
Thumba Rocket Launching Station,Thiruvananthapuram,on 21st
November 1963. It was led by National Space Research Organization
(INCOSPAR). Dr.Vikram Sarabhai was its ahead. The researches at
Thumpa paved the way for the launching of artificial satellites including
INSAT
